Following cryptic clues and a Twitter countdown, the exceptionally supreme Natalia Kills has unveiled ‘Problem’, as the first release to be taken from her forthcoming sophomore album ‘Trouble’, which serves as the follow-up to her mighty debut ‘Perfectionist’. The track is available for download on the US iTunes store from today.
Sonically, ‘Problem’ is a gritty, clattering, chaotic track that cleverly mirrors the commotion mentioned within the lyrics – Natalia sounds brazen and convincing as delivers the biting, acid tongue lyrics innocently proclaiming “we’re hell raising and we dont need saving cuz there’s no salvation for a bad girl”. The repetitive pounding beat and twisted guitars drives the track whilst the vocal distortions, incessant handclap and breakdown add drama and intensity.
The single was produced by Jeff Bhasker, who was also responsible for some of the darker shades to ‘Perfectionist’ notably ‘Zombie’ and ‘Nothing Lasts Forever’. Therefore, stylistically, it propels unexplored elements of 80’s electronic industria and brooding 90’s grime within a modern soundscape to create something new and ultimately exciting.
This is what you call a triumphant return…
